The comeback is underway. Just hours after the announcement of Alvaro Arbeloa’s departure, Real Madrid is closing in on the arrival of José Mourinho.
José Mourinho is back in white. Benfica officially confirmed the Portuguese coach’s departure on Tuesday. In a statement, the Lisbon club revealed that Real Madrid will pay the manager’s release clause, paving the way for his return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mourinho Begins a New Era in Madrid
After a highly successful first spell between 2010 and 2013, “The Special One” is now preparing to start a second chapter in the Spanish capital. The Portuguese manager is expected to sign a three-year contract and could be officially presented by the club within the next few hours.
Mourinho has wasted no time getting to work. According to Spanish media reports, he has already met with Real Madrid’s executives to discuss the club’s new sporting project. Strengthening a defense that was considered too fragile this season is said to be the top priority.
Several names are already being linked with the club, including Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries, along with other elite defenders targeted by Madrid’s hierarchy. After a trophyless campaign, Real Madrid is determined to make a major statement, and Mourinho’s return is already generating huge excitement across the Spanish capital.
A Benfica SAD comunicou à CMVM que o Real Madrid CF formalizou a intenção de contratar José Mourinho pelo valor de 15 milhões de euros, tendo o treinador dado o seu acordo.
