Kylian Mbappé has won the first Golden Shoe of his career, an official award confirmed this Sunday evening.
Another trophy for Kylian Mbappé. The Real Madrid forward, with 31 goals in La Liga, accumulated 62 points (2 points per goal), surpassing Viktor Gyökeres (58.5 points) and Mohamed Salah (58 points), who scored his 29th goal of the season in the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
Gyökeres, with 39 goals for Sporting CP, saw his total reduced due to a lower coefficient (1.5 points per goal for players playing outside the five major European leagues). Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) and Mateo Retegui (Atalanta) also failed to surpass Mbappé in their final matches.
With this victory, Mbappé succeeds Thierry Henry, the last French player to win the Golden Shoe in 2004 and 2005. Another accolade for the World Cup champion, solidifying his status as one of the top attackers in world football.
