Will Still, the current coach of RC Lens, has been confirmed as the new manager of Southampton in the Premier League.
This move marks a significant turning point in his career. Having joined Lens last summer, Still officially announced his departure from the French club, two years before the end of his contract.
In a press conference following a dominant 4-0 win against Monaco, the 31-year-old coach explained his decision with great emotion: “I made this decision due to my wife’s health issues. It’s a difficult decision, but one that was necessary.”
Return to England to be with his family
This departure marks the end of a turbulent yet overall successful season for Still. Despite a heavily remodeled squad in the winter transfer market, with departures such as Samba, Danso, Khusanov, Frankowski, and Pereira da Costa, Will Still managed to keep Lens in the top half of the table, finishing 8th in Ligue 1 with 52 points, just short of a European spot.
Personal priorities now outweigh sporting ones, as Still returns to England to be with his family. Meanwhile, RC Lens will now begin the search for a new coach for the 2025-2026 season.
