Mario Balotelli looks back on a season that fell short of expectations at Genoa. The 34-year-old striker, who joined the club for free in October, made just six appearances before injury sidelined him and he vanished from the squad.

In an interview with Rai 2, Balotelli admitted his disappointment, acknowledging that he had made “the wrong choice in terms of club.” He played only 56 minutes in Serie A, collecting two yellow cards and a long absence due to his injury.

The former OM and Inter Milan forward failed to regain his peak form, leading him to reflect on the future of his career. “I could have done more, but I am happy,” he said.

Balotelli also revealed that he is considering a move to the United States, where he could play for another two or three years before retiring. “It will be a sporting trauma, but I won’t regret anything about football,” he added.

He also stirred controversy by comparing his career to that of Messi and Ronaldo, claiming he “has nothing to envy” in their careers, despite acknowledging their dedication to training. “Why has Ronaldo won five Ballon d’Ors? They kill themselves in training.”
