Zinedine Zidane has once again confirmed his ambition to become the next head coach of the French national team, likely after the 2026 World Cup.
After a two-year absence from coaching, the former Real Madrid manager expressed his desire to take charge of the Bleus. During an event at the Adidas store in Paris, Zidane stated, “I’ve put my career on standby, but I feel 100% ready to return as a coach.”
Zidane mentioned that he feels legitimate for this role due to his playing career and has been longing for this opportunity for quite some time. However, he also acknowledged the current situation with Didier Deschamps, who is contracted until 2026. “It’s not quite the right time yet. But when the time comes, it will be with great pleasure,” he added, implying that he is waiting patiently for his chance to lead France after 2026. So, it seems that after 2026, Zidane will likely be the one!
