It’s official: Antoine Griezmann has extended his contract with Atlético Madrid until June 2027. But beyond the sporting continuity, this deal is mainly about finances.
At 34 years old, the French international remains loyal to the Colchoneros, having played 38 La Liga matches this season and scored 8 goals.
A Financially Motivated Extension
The new deal allows Atlético to spread Griezmann’s €8 million net salary for the 2025–2026 season over two years — a financial move to ease the club’s payroll burden.
Griezmann is still expected to leave the club in the summer of 2026 to join Major League Soccer. However, he will receive the full amount of the agreed salary regardless of his early departure.
