As Lyon faces potential relegation to Ligue 2 due to financial oversight from the DNCG, John Textor has dropped a bombshell: he’s stepping back.

The Eagle Football boss told Globo: “I’m going to dedicate a lot more time to Botafogo”, confirming his intent to shift focus toward the group’s wider projects and his Brazilian club.

Textor didn’t hide from past mistakes at OL: “I haven’t done very well politically in France, that’s well known,” he admitted. “The system always seemed strange to me. As an American, I didn’t adapt well and probably upset some people.”

Although stepping away from day-to-day management in Lyon, Textor promised a fresh start: “We will appoint a strong figure” to represent the club. He also reassured fans that Eagle Football remains financially stable and even floated the idea of selling Crystal Palace to better support his teams.
