The PSG’s quest for a new stadium is hitting roadblocks — and the iconic Parc des Princes might not be out of the picture after all.
While Massy and Poissy were named as finalists to host PSG’s future stadium, backlash is already building in both cities, casting serious doubt over the project’s future.
In Massy, a recent city council meeting was disrupted by residents opposing the stadium plan. They demand a local referendum and argue the city has far more pressing needs than a football arena. With local elections looming, the issue has become politically sensitive.
In Poissy, Stellantis factory workers are voicing concerns. The land targeted by PSG? It’s the site of their plant. Workers fear the club’s arrival could signal an eventual closure of the factory.
The stadium saga continues… and the Parc isn’t dead yet
Meanwhile, Paris City Hall still refuses to sell the Parc des Princes to the club. But the next municipal election could change everything — candidate Rachida Dati has said she’s open to a potential sale.
PSG had previously outlined plans for a renovated Parc with 60,000 seats, shelved after negotiations broke down. With Massy and Poissy both under pressure, that blueprint might be back on the table soon.
