As Lyon faces potential relegation to Ligue 2 due to financial oversight from the DNCG, John Textor has dropped a bombshell: he’s stepping back.
The Eagle Football boss told Globo: “I’m going to dedicate a lot more time to Botafogo”, confirming his intent to shift focus toward the group’s wider projects and his Brazilian club.
Textor didn’t hide from past mistakes at OL: “I haven’t done very well politically in France, that’s well known,” he admitted. “The system always seemed strange to me. As an American, I didn’t adapt well and probably upset some people.”
“We will appoint a strong figure”
Although stepping away from day-to-day management in Lyon, Textor promised a fresh start: “We will appoint a strong figure” to represent the club. He also reassured fans that Eagle Football remains financially stable and even floated the idea of selling Crystal Palace to better support his teams.
Now, OL’s future lies in convincing the DNCG—and avoiding a nightmare summer.
