Pep Guardiola exploded with rage after Manchester City’s shock elimination against Al-Hilal in the Round of 16 at the Club World Cup.
Frustrated by a controversial refereeing decision in the 97th minute, the Spanish coach stormed onto the pitch to confront Venezuelan referee Jesús Valenzuela. The incident followed a promising counter-attack led by Jérémy Doku, who was brought down from behind, but no foul was given. To make matters worse, the referee blew the final whistle immediately after, denying City a last chance at goal.
Furious, Guardiola was seen shouting “Are you kidding me?” in Spanish, stunned by the lack of a call.
This outburst reflected the frustration of a City side that ultimately lost 4-3 after extra time, in one of the most dramatic matches of the tournament. A major disappointment for the reigning European champions, who bow out in highly contentious circumstances.
