On August 1st, 2025, the Nanterre public prosecutor requested the indictment of Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi, 26, before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court on charges of rape.
The alleged incident dates back to February 2023. Hakimi is accused of digitally penetrating a 24-year-old woman without consent at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt.
According to the complaint, the woman met Hakimi via Instagram and went to his home in a ride-hailing car ordered by the player. She says he kissed and touched her against her will, and she had to push him away before calling a friend for help.
Hakimi Maintains His Innocence
The prosecutor believes there is enough evidence to justify a rape trial, which could lead to a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, denies the allegations and insists there is significant exculpatory evidence. She highlights the lack of post-traumatic symptoms in the complainant and describes her account as inconsistent. “We will fight until the end for the truth to come out. Achraf Hakimi did absolutely nothing wrong,” said Colin.
Meanwhile, the complainant’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, described the prosecutor’s decision as “a great relief.”
The final decision now lies with the investigating judge, who must determine whether Hakimi will be formally sent to trial.
