Relief in Madrid: Kylian Mbappé is back to full power. After a shaky summer, the French superstar hit a decisive double against Oviedo (3-0) — and his coach Xabi Alonso revealed the secret behind his resurgence: “He has regained the four kilos he lost.”
Mbappé had shed weight during June’s Club World Cup due to gastroenteritis, costing him explosiveness. Now, Alonso assures fans: “He feels good, you can see it. He’s motivated, connected to the team, influencing the game. I loved how he switched positions, pressed, and even defended.”
Mbappé, future playmaker
On Sunday, Mbappé showed it all. A brilliant pivot move opened the scoring in the 37th minute, before a lethal finish on Vinicius’ assist sealed his brace (83’). Nearly a hat-trick, he was denied by Escandell late on. Vinicius added the third.
Already on target against Osasuna, Madrid’s new No. 10 looks every bit the leader Los Blancos expected. With 44 goals last season, he’s starting this campaign on fire — and Alonso hints he may even evolve into more of a playmaker. For now? Pure goalscorer.
