Real Madrid battled hard but secured their third consecutive La Liga victory, overcoming Mallorca with a 2-1 scoreline. While Arda Güler and Vinicius delivered the goals that sealed the win for the Madrid side, Kylian Mbappé found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The French superstar experienced a night filled with frustration as he saw two of his goals ruled out for offside by the narrowest of margins.
Both of Mbappé’s disallowed goals were heart-wrenching. The first one, scored in the 6th minute, was annulled due to a minuscule part of his head being ahead of the last defender—evident from a screenshot he shared on Instagram. The second goal, which came just before halftime, met a similar fate, leaving Mbappé visibly upset but determined to bounce back.
A Night of Near Misses for Mbappé
Despite his disappointment, Mbappé is focused on the next challenge ahead with the French national team. Coach Xabi Alonso remains unfazed by the situation, stating, “Kylian not scoring today doesn’t worry me at all. He will keep scoring as he has been doing.” This confidence from his coach may help ease Mbappé’s frustration as he prepares for crucial World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Iceland.
On the pitch, Mallorca initially took the lead with a goal from Muriqi in the 18th minute. However, the match turned on its head just minutes later when Real Madrid struck back with two quick goals in the 37th and 38th minutes, sealing their comeback. As Mbappé walked off the pitch, he was frustrated but ready to channel his energy into future matches.
