A supposed tension between Michael Olise and Rayan Cherki is causing a stir within the France squad. According to L’Équipe, the Bayern Munich winger sometimes struggles with his teammate’s playing style and personality. It is a claim the former Lyon player was quick to reject, immediately dismissing the rumor on social media.
Are Michael Olise and Rayan Cherki not on the same wavelength with France? That is what L’Équipe claimed on Sunday, reporting the existence of some discomfort between the two French internationals.
Cherki hits back at the rumor
Very attached to precision and respect for the team’s collective play, Olise is reportedly not always impressed by some of Cherki’s individual initiatives during training sessions. More broadly, the Bayern Munich player is said to sometimes struggle to understand both his France teammate’s playing style and personality.
The report quickly reached Rayan Cherki, and the Manchester City attacking midfielder clearly had no intention of letting the story gain momentum. On X, the former Lyon player responded directly to the article: “Another made-up story… impressive imagination…” It was an ironic but very clear reaction: according to Cherki, there is absolutely no problem with Michael Olise.

Cherki’s response has therefore immediately cooled the controversy surrounding the two players. While their relationship had been portrayed as potentially complicated within the France squad, Cherki insists that the supposed tension is simply an invention.
