Paris FC had a bold plan this summer: to recruit N’Golo Kanté. This move could have reshaped the French transfer market, igniting excitement among fans and analysts alike. For several weeks, the idea circulated quietly, building anticipation until it came crashing down unexpectedly.

At the helm of this ambitious pursuit was Antoine Arnault, representing the club’s majority shareholder. Alongside Marco Neppe, the incoming technical director, Arnault initiated discreet conversations with Kanté and his agent.

The negotiations were kept so under wraps that even the club’s sporting department was only made aware at the last minute. Paris FC was poised for a monumental signing, aiming to make a splash in their first season back in the top flight.

However, Al-Ittihad, Kanté’s current club in Saudi Arabia, proved to be an unyielding opponent. With the midfielder still under contract for another year, Al-Ittihad refused to let him go unless their hefty financial demands were met. Unfortunately, Paris FC found themselves outmatched in this power play, unable to meet the required terms.

Al-Ittihad’s Firm Stance

Ultimately, the dream of landing Kanté slipped away for Paris FC. The club had hoped to make a significant impact in their return to the elite level of French football, but they will have to wait longer for a chance to attract a global superstar. This setback serves as a reminder of the challenges smaller clubs face in competing for top talent against wealthier rivals.

As Paris FC regroups, the focus will now shift to other potential signings that could bolster their squad. Fans will be eager to see how the club navigates the remainder of the transfer window and whether they can still land a marquee player who can help elevate their profile in Ligue 1.
