Mason Greenwood, the 23-year-old forward for OM, has received his Jamaican passport, a crucial step towards switching his sporting nationality and leaving behind his England international career. However, despite this significant milestone, he has yet to make the leap.
According to the Daily Mail, Greenwood hasn’t signed the necessary documents to officially join the Reggae Boyz and opted out of the September squad, choosing instead to concentrate on his club’s performance amid a challenging start to the season.
Greenwood Puts International Selection on Hold
Head coach Steve McClaren confirmed the situation, stating, “We secured a passport for him and expected him to join the squad, but after speaking with his family, he won’t commit to anyone at this time.”
Greenwood’s decision to prioritize the OM over international duty has left Jamaica feeling hopeful yet patient, believing that he will eventually don the national colors. For now, Greenwood is taking his time to focus on club football.
