Champion's League

In a thrilling clash in the Champions League, FC Barcelona succumbed to Paris Saint-Germain with a final score of 2-1.

Hansi Flick, the head coach of Barcelona, didn’t shy away from acknowledging PSG’s superiority following the defeat. He stated, “We are far from the level of PSG. They play with an extraordinary philosophy, featuring young players full of movement and speed. From the sidelines, it’s clear they have the upper hand.” Flick’s candid remarks left no doubt about the quality of the opposition.

The German tactician further emphasized the validity of PSG’s win, noting, “We played much better in the first half than in the second. Fatigue led to our conceding goals. PSG is a top-tier team with talented youngsters performing at an excellent level. We didn’t reach our best, making it tough against teams like them. They deserved the victory, and we must congratulate them.”

Koundé Reflects on the Match’s Key Differences

On the players’ front, Frenkie de Jong sought to downplay the defeat, highlighting the absence of some key team members. He said, “We had a few absentees, but it was a good match to gauge our current status. We are also a high-level team in Europe, and while this loss stings, it isn’t decisive in the Champions League.” De Jong remains optimistic about future matches.

Jules Koundé, reflecting on the match, pointed out the crucial difference in ball control and physicality.

He remarked, “The difference? Ball control. They were physically superior. We struggled to press as intended. We were lacking in several areas. However, it’s essential to recognize that they delivered an excellent performance. I’m disappointed but not surprised; we knew the quality of this team… they were simply better.” Following this setback, Barça will aim to bounce back against Olympiakos after the break.
