Real Madrid is poised to rake in a substantial €20 million without lifting a finger. Mario Gila, who joined Lazio two years ago, has blossomed into one of Serie A’s top defenders. With his solid performances and consistent displays against Europe’s elite teams, the Spanish player has become a cornerstone of the Roman club’s defense.

Naturally, English clubs are taking notice. According to several Italian sources and Defensa Central, Brighton has already made a €34 million bid for Gila this summer, which was promptly rejected by Lazio. Nevertheless, Real Madrid stands to benefit handsomely, as they retain 50% of the player’s rights.

In practical terms, if Gila is sold, half of the transfer fee will flow directly into Madrid’s coffers. This unexpected windfall is a nice gift for Florentino Pérez, allowing him to cash in big without spending a dime. Meanwhile, Lazio is looking to extend Gila’s contract, which runs until 2027, but without a new agreement, a transfer could happen as early as January.

A Transfer That Would Benefit Real

Real Madrid is closely monitoring the situation but has no plans to bring Gila back. With the signing of Huijsen and the emergence of Asencio, Madrid’s defense is already well-stocked. However, if Lazio eventually sells Gila for a high price, Madrid will hit the jackpot without any effort.

This potential transfer could turn out to be a financial masterstroke for Real Madrid, enabling them to profit from Gila’s rise without any action on their part.
