Olympique de Marseille continues to structure its sports sector. Medhi Benatia will welcome Federico Balzaretti as an assistant to strengthen the football management.

OM is bolstering its organizational chart. Medhi Benatia will enlist the services of Federico Balzaretti, reveals Gianluca Di Marzio. The former left-back of Juve, Fiorentina, and Roma, who had previously crossed paths with Benatia in Italy, joins the Marseille football director as an assistant.

The Turin native will also oversee the entire scouting sector, with plans to recruit new collaborators.

Another strategic mission: to promote the emergence of young Olympic talents. This is further proof that Benatia is placing great trust in his skills and professionalism.

And for good reason: the former Italian international (16 caps), who came close to signing with PSG in 2011, has never left football since his retirement in 2015. A director at Roma, a media consultant, French-speaking and familiar with the French league, Balzaretti arrives at OM with solid experience and a real understanding of the field. A significant recruit to sustainably structure the Marseille project.
