Bad news for Real Madrid. The young Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono (18 years old) is officially affected by pubalgia, as announced by the Madrid club this Monday.
This is a huge blow for Mastantuono. The attacking midfielder, recruited at a high price after his dazzling debut at River Plate, will have to undergo a period of unavailability, the duration of which has not yet been specified.
But one thing is certain: he will be absent for several weeks, at a minimum. A real setback for Xabi Alonso, who was already counting on him for the rest of the season.
This injury, common yet feared among footballers, is increasingly affecting young players. Mastantuono thus joins a growing list of talents hindered by this condition. Bad news for Real… and a new reminder that pubalgia can quickly disrupt dynamics.
Messi also affected
Pubalgia is not just a minor physical issue: Lionel Messi himself testified to this in 2019, explaining that he had “been dealing with this pain for months” and that it prevented him from training normally. A sneaky injury, long to heal and difficult to eliminate, which can force a player to miss numerous matches – Messi paid the price for this with Barça.
Today, several young talents are experiencing the same struggle: Lamine Yamal, unable to perform without pain, or Nico Williams, unrecognizable this season. Franco Mastantuono is the latest to join this list.
Pubalgia is becoming almost the ailment of the new generation, slowing the rise of players who are expected to dominate Europe.
