Luis Enrique didn’t hold back after PSG’s 1–0 defeat to Monaco. Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Paris coach delivered a brutal assessment, calling it “the worst match of the season.”
Clearly irritated, he admitted Monaco were superior from start to finish. “They played better than us. It’s difficult to have continuity when you make individual mistakes,” he said, pointing to a PSG side with no rhythm and constantly overwhelmed by Monaco’s intensity.
Enrique also refused to hide behind excuses. “It would be too easy to say my team was tired. At the top level, you have to perform every day.” A direct message to his players, whose technical errors and sloppy ball losses cost them the game.
“A very bad night for us”
Even with ten men at the end, Monaco controlled the match. “They deserved more than us. It was a very bad night for us,” Enrique admitted.
He finished with a blunt warning: “When you play like this, with so many mistakes, it’s impossible to win. We have to accept the level we showed today.” For him, PSG must take full responsibility for the performance — and react quickly.
