Sent off late in the match against Liverpool (0–2), Lucas Paquetá exploded on X, aiming his frustration directly at the English FA. The West Ham midfielder, booked twice for dissent, believes the federation abandoned him mentally during the illegal betting investigation launched against him in August 2023.
Paquetá has had enough. Emotionally drained, he’s calling for real psychological support.
“It’s absurd to see your life and career affected for two years without any psychological support from the federation. This absurd behavior is maybe just a reflection of everything I’ve had to endure and apparently still have to endure!” he wrote.
Paquetá was officially cleared by the FA
He also apologized, while making it clear he isn’t looking for excuses:
“I’m sorry if I’m not perfect. This doesn’t justify my red card, and I apologize to the fans and my teammates.”
Reminder: Paquetá was officially cleared by the FA last June.
