Real Madrid stumbled again in Montilivi: a frustrating 1–1 draw against Girona that cost them first place, snatched by Barça. Even with a converted penalty, Mbappé couldn’t pull his team out of their rough patch.

“Why are you looking over there? Look at me when I’m talking to you!”

“Look at me when I’m talking to you!” he repeated several times, insisting despite the referee’s attempts to calm him down. A scene caught on camera that perfectly illustrates the charged atmosphere of the moment. Referee Clemente tried to calm Mbappé by saying, “Listen to me,” but Kylian Mbappé was seeing red and again snapped, “Why are you looking over there? Look at me when I’m talking to you!”

A week earlier, Mbappé had already erupted after a 2–2 draw against Elche, irritated by several refereeing decisions. Demanding explanations, he lost his temper and even insulted the referee in French: “You dirty idiot!” He ultimately got away with just a warning for dissent.
