The transfer window is already shaping up to be explosive in Strasbourg. After the dismissal of Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are said to have set their sights on Liam Rosenior, the current head coach of RC Strasbourg. A prospect that deeply worries the Alsatian club, especially as both entities share the same owner, BlueCo.
Officially, Strasbourg are playing down the situation. Internally, the club insists that Rosenior’s departure “is not on the agenda.” However, according to several English sources, including Fabrizio Romano, the coach sits at the very top of the Blues’ shortlist. In this power struggle, it is hard to imagine the Alsatian side holding its ground against the London giant.
Strasbourg Already Looking for a Successor
Proof that the threat is real: Strasbourg have reportedly already begun searching for a replacement. According to The Guardian, Eric Ramsay, currently head coach of Minnesota United, is the leading candidate. Having worked with Chelsea, Manchester United, and the Welsh national team, the 33-year-old fits perfectly with the young, developmental profile favored by BlueCo.
The situation is causing frustration in Alsace. Seeing their coach potentially absorbed by the parent club reignites the debate around multi-club ownership and its excesses. And it leaves one burning question hanging in the air: is Strasbourg doomed to serve merely as a feeder club for Chelsea?
