Closely followed by Olympique de Marseille last summer, Joel Ordoñez could ultimately be heading to the Premier League. According to several British outlets, including the Mirror, the Club Brugge centre-back is now on Liverpool’s radar for the upcoming winter transfer window.
At 21, the Ecuadorian international has established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the Belgian league. With 23 appearances and one goal in all competitions this season, Ordoñez has impressed with his physical presence, game reading and early maturity — qualities that have not gone unnoticed by the Reds’ scouts.
Liverpool ready to invest heavily in their defense
Liverpool are reportedly considering a bid of around €40 million to convince Club Brugge to part ways with their player this winter. It would be a significant investment, but one that aligns with the club’s strategy of rejuvenating and strengthening their defense for the long term.
For OM, there may be some regret. Very interested last summer, the Marseille club was unable to go further financially. Now, Ordoñez appears ready to take the next step in his career — with Anfield potentially his next destination.
