Real Madrid comfortably defeated Real Sociedad (4–1) in La Liga without Kylian Mbappé, who remained on the bench. Vinicius Jr., with a brace, was the main architect of the Madrid side’s victory, with additional goals from Gonzalo Garcia and Federico Valverde.

Mbappé rested, Real Madrid cruise without him… but the French striker is not necessarily being protected. After the match, Alvaro Arbeloa explained that the forward had been deliberately spared due to a persistent knee issue. The staff did not want to take any risks in order to have him available on Tuesday for the Champions League playoff against Benfica, and they remain confident about his presence.

According to reports, the Real Madrid staff are aware of the French striker’s condition but do not plan to give him full rest, believing the team would struggle greatly to win without him. The club is therefore ready to take the risk of continuing to field him in upcoming matches considered more important than the clash with Real Sociedad.
