The split between Stade Rennais and Habib Beye is intensifying. Suspended at the start of the week, the coach is now the subject of disciplinary proceedings launched by the club, along with several members of his staff. Officially, management has not detailed the reasons, but internally the complaints are said to be numerous.
The relationship between Habib Beye and Rennes is ending on very bad terms. According to sources close to the case cited by Ouest France, recurring tensions with part of the staff reportedly weighed heavily in the decision.
Disciplinary Case and Internal Tensions
The Brice Samba episode, in which the player was sidelined for what were presented as disciplinary reasons, is also among the elements under review. Another sensitive issue involves steps allegedly taken by Beye’s entourage to prepare his departure conditions, considered premature by the club’s leadership.
The club is considering classifying the alleged actions as serious misconduct or even gross misconduct. Such a legal framework would allow the contract to be terminated without compensation and could set the stage for a court battle if no agreement is reached.
Rennes executives also suspect that contacts were made with Marseille before the suspension, further increasing tensions. The timing makes matters more complex, as the club is simultaneously working on appointing a new coach while the Beye case could quickly turn into a labor court dispute if negotiations fail. The standoff is only just beginning.
