Portugal international Pedro Neto has received an additional one-match suspension along with a fine of around €81,000. However, the sanction is not related to the PSG vs Chelsea match.
Pedro Neto has found himself in the referees’ spotlight. After being sent off during the Premier League clash against Arsenal on March 1, the player was punished with an extra one-match suspension and a fine estimated at €81,000.
Disciplinary action after Arsenal red card
The Chelsea winger, who was dismissed in the 70th minute, was accused of delaying his exit from the pitch and using abusive language toward the referee and his assistants. Neto admitted the charges, and an independent disciplinary commission decided to impose these sanctions following a hearing. Having already served the suspension linked to his red card, the Portuguese international will therefore miss an additional match.
The situation involving PSG remains under review. This sanction is not connected to the incident that occurred during the Champions League match against PSG, which Chelsea lost 5-2. During that game, Neto pushed a ball boy whom he felt was too slow to return the ball. The player later apologized, but a disciplinary procedure regarding that incident is still ongoing.
