The future of Lucas Chevalier at Paris Saint-Germain is growing increasingly uncertain as the weeks go by. Sidelined since late January, the French goalkeeper is going through a difficult period marked by limited playing time and an unfavorable position in the squad hierarchy.
Hampered at the start of the season and later relegated to the bench, the 24-year-old shot-stopper has seen Matvey Safonov establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper in Paris. A tough situation for the former Lille player, who has no intention of settling into a long-term backup role.
Uncertain future and rising transfer interest
According to L’Équipe, Chevalier could request a move during the next summer transfer window if he does not regain a starting spot by then. This scenario is becoming increasingly likely given Safonov’s solid performances in recent weeks.
Paradoxically, the situation remains unclear internally. Luis Enrique reportedly does not view Safonov as a long-term solution, prompting PSG to consider signing a new number one goalkeeper this summer. However, this context could accelerate Chevalier’s departure as he seeks stability and consistent playing time.
On the transfer market, his profile is already attracting interest. Tottenham are said to be among the clubs keen on securing the French international. It remains to be seen whether the London side, currently struggling in the Premier League, can convince him. Meanwhile, the lack of playing time could also impact his place in the France squad for the 2026 World Cup, adding further weight to his decision.
