The reunion between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain will have a special flavor for Hugo Ekitike. Having left the French capital without truly establishing himself, the French striker is now preparing to face his former club in the Champions League quarter-finals.

After the Reds’ qualification against Galatasaray, the former Frankfurt player did not hide his excitement about this clash, while avoiding framing it as a personal revenge. “Happy to face them again? Yeah, it’s good. It’s going to be interesting, a good match. A good test for me, for the team. Yeah, it’s going to be interesting!” he told Canal+.

A Collective Focus Over Personal Revenge

While he still holds some affection for PSG, Ekitike prefers to stay focused on the team and his current progress at Liverpool. “Revenge for me? No. You know, I just come and do my job. I play in a team, it’s a completely different environment. With PSG, we’ve had different paths, but it’s still a club I like. It’s good to meet them again at this stage of the competition. I’m focusing on myself and the team,” he explained.

Clear-headed about the keys to the upcoming double confrontation, the striker is relying above all on collective strength to make the difference against the Parisians. “What needs to change compared to last season? A bit like today: we need to show cohesion, teamwork, and solidarity. Then, individual talent and tactics will make the difference. But we have the quality, I’m confident,” he concluded. The first leg is scheduled for early April at the Parc des Princes, in what promises to be a highly contested encounter.
