Kylian Mbappé could be turning a historic page in his career. Under contract with Nike since the age of 8, the captain of the French national team is reaching a pivotal moment as his deal with the American equipment manufacturer expires this summer.
Kylian Mbappé is shaking things up. After leaving PSG for Real Madrid, his partnership with Nike is now under threat. To avoid a delicate situation during the World Cup, the contract was extended by an additional month for the tournament. A logical decision for both the brand and the French national team, who could not imagine their star player without an equipment supplier in the middle of such a major competition.
A highly competitive battle for Mbappé
Fully aware of the stakes, Nike reportedly made Kylian Mbappé one of the most lucrative renewal offers ever proposed in its football portfolio. However, despite this very attractive proposal, nothing guarantees that the forward will continue the partnership, according to Le Parisien.
The competition is particularly aggressive. Adidas, previously rejected despite an offer at least €20 million higher, has returned to the table. Other players such as Under Armour have also positioned themselves.
An unexpected scenario cannot be ruled out. The market has already seen major surprises, such as when Roger Federer left Nike to join Uniqlo. According to Le Parisien, one of the three most advanced contenders may not even come from the sports industry, potentially reshuffling the deck entirely. At the same time, Nike is preparing for the future and is close to reaching an agreement with rising French talent Désiré Doué, who could sign a deal worth over €3 million per year and become one of the brand’s new flagship ambassadors.
