Kylian Mbappé found himself at the center of a major controversy following reports of a possible mistake by Real Madrid’s medical staff. The player denied any issue, but journalist Daniel Riolo insists that Mbappé is hiding the truth.
According to Spanish media, an MRI was allegedly performed on the wrong knee in December, triggering massive anger from the player, described as “monumental” by Marca. This blunder reportedly disrupted his treatment and deprived the team of its leader for several matches.
Conflicting Versions Surround Injury Management
In response, the forward turned to French specialist Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, who opted for a non-surgical treatment. Mbappé acknowledged a difficult period but now claims to feel relieved.
Despite the scale of the controversy, Mbappé firmly denied any medical error, explaining that his lack of communication had fueled speculation. He insists everything was handled clearly with the club and downplays his absence, noting that Real Madrid could still perform without him.
However, the situation escalated further with statements from Riolo. The journalist claims the error is real and directly accuses Mbappé of lying, suggesting a joint communication strategy with Real Madrid to avoid a scandal. According to him, the player is protecting the club’s interests, even if it means concealing a “grotesque mistake.”
“There were high-level communication meetings. The information revealed on After Foot was confirmed by everyone. (…) They adopted a strategy of lying. (…) I’ll say it: he lied. I think it’s a strategy set up with Real. He doesn’t want to harm Real’s interests, which comes out looking ridiculous in this story. I confirm the Mbappé story 1000%,” Riolo said on RMC.
“He adopted a communication strategy of not telling the truth about this grotesque mistake. I don’t understand this approach. Why isn’t honesty the first choice? Instead of moving on, they keep fueling the situation. Lying is never the right option,” he concluded.
The result: a case that remains unclear, caught between the player’s official version and media accusations, continuing to cast doubt over how his injury was handled.
