Paris Saint-Germain continues to broaden its horizons, but without rushing into things. Speaking on Alexandre Mars’s “Pause” podcast, the club’s CEO Victoriano Melero revealed that PSG had recently been approached for a project… in cycling.
Does that mean a Paris-based team in the Tour de France? Not anytime soon. The idea was discussed internally and seen as attractive from a media standpoint, but it has not been pursued at this stage.
A Strategic Approach to Expansion
Melero maintains a measured and transparent stance: “We were approached regarding cycling,” he explained, before quickly adding nuance. “For now, we didn’t follow up. I thought it offered great exposure, especially through the Tour de France—it’s incredible—but we decided not to move forward, even if it’s not that expensive.”
Already involved in several sports, PSG is prioritizing a coherent strategy and refuses to multiply projects without a clear direction. In this context, another ambition is gaining momentum: basketball.
The idea of a Paris-based franchise in NBA Europe is becoming increasingly relevant internally and aligns more closely with the club’s current vision. For now, cycling isn’t off the table—just on hold.
