Paris FC: Gilli Settles Scores After His Dismissal

Dismissed in February while Paris FC was not in immediate danger, Stéphane Gilli has still not moved on. The coach regrets not being able to complete his mission and remains deeply frustrated by the decision.

Clearly bitter about the situation, Gilli struggles to accept his mid-season removal despite what he considers a stable position. He remains convinced he would have kept the club up. Speaking to L’Équipe, he defended his record: “I was given survival as an objective, and I was dismissed with a six-point lead over the relegation playoff spot with eleven matches remaining.”

A strong belief in survival and internal support

“We were never in the relegation zone all season. I believe we would have stayed up if I had remained,” he added, standing firm on his assessment of the team’s trajectory.

Deeply affected by his departure, the coach also emphasized the support he received internally: “I received many messages from players when I left. Those testimonies, from all levels of the club, make me even prouder of everything we achieved with my staff.”

Since then, the club has taken on a new dynamic under Antoine Kombouaré. Paris FC is currently enjoying an impressive run of form, highlighted by a dominant victory over AS Monaco. A contrast that is unlikely to change Gilli’s perspective.
