At Atlético de Madrid, Antoine Griezmann remains a special player… but not a diva, as confirmed by Kevin Gameiro.
Griezmann is set to leave Atlético Madrid soon, heading to Major League Soccer after a brief spell at FC Barcelona. Close to his coach Diego Simeone since 2014, the French forward has never received preferential treatment.
This was highlighted by Gameiro, his former teammate with the Colchoneros: “Back in my time, you could clearly see they were close, that there was something special between them, but they never abused it within the group. When I was on the pitch, Simeone treated me the same way he treated Antoine. On days when Antoine wasn’t at his best, he showed him what was expected, just like he did with everyone else.”
Griezmann Set for a New Chapter in Orlando
This testimony confirms Simeone’s strict approach, even with his key players.
At the end of a cycle, Griezmann is currently playing his final weeks in Madrid before joining Orlando City SC. An important chapter is about to close for one of Atlético’s most iconic figures.
