Paris Saint-Germain may have to give up on Julián Álvarez. Targeted by the European champions to strengthen their attack this summer, the Argentine international does not appear enthusiastic about a move to the French capital.
A transfer between Álvarez and PSG now seems highly unlikely. The player, and especially his family, are reportedly not keen on relocating to Paris.
Family Preference Keeps Álvarez in Spain
According to Éric Rabesandratana, speaking on La Chaîne L’Équipe after a conversation with Javier Pastore, the issue is not directly linked to the player himself. Instead, his family would prefer to remain in Spain.
“He does not want to leave Spain because his family does not want him to,” explained the former PSG defender. As a result, the Atlético Madrid forward would reportedly favor a potential move to FC Barcelona rather than a switch to Ligue 1.
This is a setback for Luis Campos and Luis Enrique, both of whom admire the profile of the Argentine World Cup winner. However, the Spanish coach has always refused to pressure players who are not fully convinced by the Paris project. With this deal looking increasingly difficult, PSG are already exploring other attacking options, including Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi, who is being closely monitored by the club’s decision-makers.
