This could be the first major move of the summer in Marseille. According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Bruno Genesio is on the verge of becoming the new head coach of Olympique de Marseille.
Genesio is reportedly very close to taking charge at OM. Barring a dramatic last-minute twist, the French manager has been chosen by the club’s leadership to lead Marseille’s ambitious new project. A few details still need to be finalized, but the direction now appears clear.
Genesio Ready for a New Challenge
Available after leaving Lille, Genesio could quickly return to management with one of PSG’s biggest rivals. The decision is likely to generate plenty of discussion, especially given the praise he received for his work with Lille over the past few seasons.
With extensive experience in Ligue 1 and European competitions, the former Lyon coach seems to match all the criteria Marseille were looking for as they begin a new cycle. His profile is viewed as a safe and experienced option to guide the club forward.
If the agreement is finalized in the coming days, Marseille will already have secured one of the biggest storylines of the offseason. It would also mean the departure of Habib Beye just a few months after his arrival, marking a second coaching setback in a single season for the former Rennes manager.
