Just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Kylian Mbappé was at the center of attention. After a demanding end to the season with Real Madrid, questions emerged about the physical and mental condition of the France captain. In reality, however, there is no cause for concern.

Didier Deschamps was eager to put an end to the speculation. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the friendly match against Ivory Coast, the France manager delivered a reassuring update regarding his captain, Kylian Mbappé.

“He is in great shape. That’s it. Physically and psychologically…” Deschamps stated bluntly. The coach also emphasized the importance of the Real Madrid star’s role within the French squad. “I speak with him. He has talked with the players, he is the captain.
