OL: Endrick, the Unlikely Return? Mourinho to Decide

After an impressive loan spell with Lyon, Endrick returned to Real Madrid this summer. However, some at OL are already dreaming of bringing the young Brazilian sensation back to the club.

What if? Endrick left Lyon immediately after the final match of the season. There was no question of staying a minute longer in France, as he flew back to Madrid that very evening. But this quick departure was not an escape. The Brazilian is currently focused on preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

Lyon Still Hoping for Endrick

With eight goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, the 19-year-old striker made a strong impression during his time in Lyon. His performances have encouraged the club’s executives to keep a close eye on his situation at Real Madrid.

Speaking to RMC, OL technical director Matthieu Louis-Jean tried to temper expectations. “Right now, I would say no. It’s impossible,” he admitted before leaving a small door open. “But Endrick often talks about God,” he added with a smile. “We’ll see what happens. He’s a great young man, and he agreed to take part in next season’s kit campaign.” Unsurprisingly, those comments have given Lyon supporters fresh hope.

For now, Endrick remains a Real Madrid player, and his future will largely depend on the decisions of the club’s next manager. If Florentino Pérez is re-elected this weekend, José Mourinho is expected to take charge.

Whether the Special One sees a role for the Brazilian remains unclear. Should Madrid decide that Endrick needs more playing time to continue his development, Lyon could quickly make another move. For the moment, a return looks highly unlikely, but in football, especially with a talent like Endrick, nothing can ever be ruled out completely.
