Manchester United has officially secured most of the land required for the construction of its future 100,000-seat stadium. The development marks a major breakthrough for the English club as it continues its ambitious plan to transform the Old Trafford area.
The future home of the Red Devils is set to become the largest sporting venue in the United Kingdom. Located just 350 meters northwest of the current stadium, the 25-acre site was acquired from Indurent, an industrial property company owned by the Blackstone Group.
Old Trafford Regeneration Project
Beyond football, the new stadium is expected to drive a large-scale urban regeneration initiative. The wider project covers nearly 370 acres and aims to turn Old Trafford into one of the world’s leading sports and entertainment destinations.
According to projections, the redevelopment could deliver around 15,000 new homes, including affordable housing options. Nearly 48,000 local jobs are expected to be created, while more than 90,000 positions could emerge across the UK. The overall economic impact is estimated at more than £7 billion annually.
Collette Roche, chief executive of Manchester United’s new stadium project, described the acquisition as a decisive step forward. She emphasized the club’s commitment to preserving Old Trafford’s heritage while creating a modern, accessible venue designed with supporters in mind. Additional details of the project will be unveiled on July 9, when the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation presents its full vision for the district and the final plans for the stadium.
