Lionel Messi scored twice against Austria (2-0) and once again made World Cup history. But after the match, Argentina’s captain preferred to focus on the Albiceleste’s qualification rather than his personal records.

Argentina have qualified largely thanks to Lionel Messi. With this second win in two matches, the world champions officially booked their place in the last 32 of the 2026 World Cup, a performance that fully satisfies the Inter Miami star.
