With one year remaining on his contract, Ethan Mbappé now looks set to continue his career at Lille. The 19-year-old midfielder is reportedly close to signing an extension, which should end the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Ethan Mbappé is nearing an agreement with LOSC. According to L’Équipe, the versatile young midfielder is on the verge of extending his contract with the northern French club.
Lille Keen to Secure Mbappé’s Future
Mbappé joined Lille with the ambition of earning more playing time and continuing his development. Kylian Mbappé’s younger brother made 18 Ligue 1 appearances during the 2025-2026 season, scoring three goals.
His contract situation had forced Lille’s management to act quickly. With his current deal due to expire in 2027, the club risked seeing him enter the final year of his contract without any guarantees over his future. Without an extension, Lille would probably have considered selling him this summer to avoid losing him for free a year later, but talks have reportedly progressed positively.
The new deal would allow LOSC to secure a promising player who is still developing and can operate in several midfield and attacking positions. For Ethan Mbappé, the extension would also provide greater stability after a season in which he began to establish himself in Lille’s rotation. Barring a late change, his future should therefore remain in northern France.
