Pierre-Emile Højbjerg could become one of the major stories of the upcoming winter transfer window. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have placed the OM midfielder high on their list of targets for January. The Italian club are notably looking for an experienced player capable of bringing leadership to their midfield.
Juventus are already preparing for the transfer window and are keeping a close eye on Marseille, with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg firmly on their radar. Despite financial fair play constraints, the Bianconeri want to strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad this winter, with midfield considered one of their priority areas.
Højbjerg no longer untouchable at Marseille
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Højbjerg has moved back to the forefront of Juventus’ plans. The 31-year-old Dane has long been admired in Turin, while his international experience and leadership fit the profile sought by the club. Manuel Locatelli’s absence has also increased the need for an experienced midfielder. Another factor that could facilitate a deal is Højbjerg’s situation at Marseille: the Italian newspaper claims he is no longer considered completely untouchable by OM, although his contract runs until June 2028.
Juventus will also need to manage their squad before making a move. A departure for Teun Koopmeiners could make a potential approach for the former Tottenham player easier. At this stage, La Gazzetta describes Højbjerg as a target and sporting priority, but there is no agreement between the parties yet.
Juventus are not alone in the race, with Fiorentina also monitoring Højbjerg and potentially ready to make a move. His market value is currently estimated at around €15 million, although that figure does not represent an asking price set by Marseille. With three months to go before the winter transfer window opens, an Italian battle for the Danish midfielder could therefore be taking shape.
