The pressure is rising at Lyon. Following the club’s administrative relegation to Ligue 2, John Textor’s days at the helm appear numbered — and his successor may already be lined up.
According to RMC Sport, Ares Management — the investment fund that financed much of Textor’s takeover of OL — is preparing to step in and take control. Talks of a leadership change are well underway.
Gerlinger to save Lyon ?
One name is gaining serious traction: Michael Gerlinger. As reported by L’Équipe, the former Bayern Munich executive and current head of football at Eagle Football is seen as the ideal replacement. With a strong European network, legal expertise, and institutional credibility, Gerlinger ticks all the boxes to lead OL out of crisis.
Textor is reportedly considering stepping back voluntarily, but the final decision lies with the shareholders. If all parties agree, Gerlinger could soon become the new face of Lyon’s revival project.
