In a surprising twist, Dani Ceballos, the midfield maestro of Real Madrid, has decided to halt his transfer to Olympique de Marseille.

Just when it seemed he was on the verge of leaving for the French club, reports from Spain indicate that he has opted to remain at the Bernabéu for the time being. Ceballos believes that fighting for a spot at Real Madrid aligns more with his ambitions than making the leap to Ligue 1.

While the French media reported that an agreement was in place between Marseille and Real Madrid, Ceballos’s personal decision has thrown a wrench in the works.

The Ligue 1 side had proposed a loan deal with an option to buy next summer, totaling €11 million plus €4 million in variables. Although Madrid was set to accept this offer, Ceballos felt that this move would be a step back in his career, as he aims to solidify his standing in Spain’s top tier.

Ceballos Rejects Marseille and Focuses on Real

Currently, Ceballos faces stiff competition in Madrid’s midfield, battling it out with talents like Valverde, Tchouaméni, and the injured duo of Camavinga and Bellingham. Yet, the Spanish star is determined to prove his worth to coach Xabi Alonso and make his mark on the national team.

He is fully aware of the challenges but remains optimistic about seizing his chance to shine.

Should a transfer to Real Betis not materialize, Ceballos is prepared to stay put and fight for a starting position, just as he did last season before injuries sidelined him. With unwavering determination, he hopes his former national team coach, De la Fuente, will call him up soon. For now, it seems that Marseille will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
