Ligue 1 is entering a new era of transparency. This Friday, during the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse, an unprecedented system will be tested: referees will be equipped with microphones.

The referee will address the 50,000 spectators at the Parc des Princes to justify his decisions. For the first time in the league, officials will wear a microphone to explain their calls live, particularly during VAR interventions.

Enhanced transparency in refereeing decisions

Fans at the Parc des Princes, as well as television viewers, will be able to hear the referee’s explanations after each controversial action.
