Lucas Chevalier is not expected to leave PSG this summer. Despite questions surrounding his future and the arrival of young Alessandro Longoni, the Parisian club has no plans to part ways with its French goalkeeper.
Chevalier stays at PSG, the goalkeeper battle goes on! According to journalist Benjamin Quarez from Le Parisien, Chevalier has not asked to leave. On their side, PSG have no intention of opening the door to a departure either. The message is clear: unless the situation changes, the former Lille player will be there next season.
PSG goalkeeping hierarchy set to intensify
Signed last summer in a highly discussed deal, Lucas Chevalier is still considered an important part of PSG’s project. However, he is expected to start the season behind Matvey Safonov in the pecking order. A tricky situation, but not enough to trigger a departure.
PSG are also planning for the future in this position. Alessandro Longoni will arrive to take on a number three role, while Renato Marin is expected to go out on loan to gain playing time. Paris are therefore reshaping their goalkeeping department without sacrificing Chevalier.
Next season could reignite real competition between the posts in Paris. Safonov currently has the edge, but Chevalier intends to fight to win back his place. For now, he is not pushing to leave, and PSG are not pushing to sell him either.
The situation could only be reconsidered if the player’s stance changes. But at this stage, PSG are closing the door. Chevalier stays, and the goalkeeper battle will continue.
