The three finalists for the African Ballon d’Or are now known: Achraf Hakimi, Mohamed Salah, and Victor Osimhen. A prestigious lineup, but one that already gives the impression of a predetermined outcome.
After Ousmane Dembélé for the men’s Ballon d’Or, PSG could see a second player awarded individually. Achraf Hakimi seems to be on track for the trophy in its African version. Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen complete the list, also representing the pinnacle of African football, but without the aura of the Moroccan this season.
Even though the ceremony aims to be competitive, the suspense seems minimal as Hakimi dominates the discussions. His consistent performances, major influence with Morocco, and status as a global reference at his position give him several lengths of advantage. Many believe that the hierarchy has been established for a long time.
With Hakimi being rewarded, PSG is once again delighted.
The verdict will be announced on Wednesday, November 19, in Rabat. Unless an improbable turnaround occurs, Achraf Hakimi should secure the first major individual honor of his career and further inscribe his name in the history of African football.
