Sanctioned after Gabon’s early exit in the group stage of AFCON 2025, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36, 86 caps and 40 goals) can breathe easy.
The Panthers’ striker, like captain Bruno Ecuele Manga, had been suspended by the authorities of his country following this huge disappointment. This Monday, that decision was officially overturned.
Gabon Lifts the Suspensions
In a statement, the Gabonese Football Federation confirmed the news. “The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) informs the national and international sporting public of the lifting, this Monday, January 12, 2026, of the government measures that suspended the national team as well as the sidelining of players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bruno Ecuele Manga following the insufficient results of the national team at AFCON. (…) FEGAFOOT welcomes the happy outcome of this situation,” the body said.
A positive outcome that puts an end to a period of tension around the Gabonese national team after this continental failure.
