FC Barcelona is fuming after Lamine Yamal was ruled out for their match against Valencia due to a pubic injury sustained while with the Spanish national team
. The situation is escalating into a full-blown scandal, pitting the Catalan club against the Spanish Football Federation. While Paris Saint-Germain praised the national team for resting Fabian Ruiz, Yamal’s case tells a different story.
Hansi Flick didn’t hold back on Saturday, accusing Luis de la Fuente of playing Yamal despite the player’s discomfort. “Lamine Yamal arrived with pain and did not train. He was given painkillers to play… This is not taking care of him. I’m very saddened by this,” Flick stated emphatically, raising serious concerns about player welfare.
Yamal Injured at the Worst Possible Time
In response, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) quickly countered the allegations. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, they claimed that Yamal showed no issues upon arrival or departure from the national camp.
Medical examinations supposedly confirmed his fitness, and Barcelona did not report any significant concerns. Additionally, a physiotherapist from Barça accompanied Yamal and only noted minor discomfort.
The clash between Barça and the RFEF is now undeniable. Flick criticized the excessive use of Yamal during matches against Bulgaria and Turkey, where he played 73 and 79 minutes, respectively, despite clear victories.
The RFEF, meanwhile, insists there has been no negligence and insists they maintained regular communication with the Blaugranas. Unfortunately for Barça, losing their 18-year-old star couldn’t come at a worse time, revealing a deeper rift between the club and the national team.
